Christmas in Madrid – photos

The weeks leading up to Christmas in Madrid are a popular time to visit Spain’s capitol.

My perfect Madrid holiday experience in December would start with shopping. I’d go shopping at the family-owned shops and big name department stores. I’d mix in some stops at landmarks during the trip. Then, I’d be sure to have a few meals at popular restaurants.

A holiday can be had by just strolling among the shoppers and Christmas lights.

You’ll see that some of the stores put up Christmas lights and decorations. I like that the Madrid Christmas lights and decoration tend to be done tastefully and not done to excess. Some of the popular plazas (i.e, Plaza Mayor) and city parks will have decorations too.
